Personal Document: Theodora van der Sloot
Two Personal Documents were made for Theodora van der Sloot–Nos. 9 and 9a– because she married twice. In both marriages, she remained childless. Her first marriage ended with the death of her husband Adrianus van Brunschot. He had drawn up a Last Will and Testament on 24 August 1891 in which he named his wife Theodora van der Sloot as his only heir. His death certificate of 25 September 1891 shows their home address as Luissel, District D No. 57.
Theodora remarried on 3 November 1892. Her new husband, Christiaan Kapteijns, was a widower who had married his first wife, Adriana Verhoeven, on 7 May 1879.

Personal Document: Francijna van der Sloot
Francijna van der Sloot married 16 April 1880 to Johannes Heesters. Their marriage produced six children, of which five died in infancy and very little information is available. The census shows that the family originally resided at Driehoven 140 and later on at Driehoven 159 in Haaren.
Johannes Heesters was a poulterer at first, but gradually increased his assortment of goods to include spades, scythes, rakes, etc. with the farmer as his most prominent customer. His son, Petrus, who was born on 11 March 1881 in Haaren (witnesses for his birth were the blacksmith Gerard van den Hurk age 38 years, and the wagon maker Johannes van den Hurk age 34 years) felt tool sales was a good way to earn a living. He followed in the footsteps of his father and expanded the merchandise assortment to include the most advanced farming equipment that was (or was not yet) available on the market at that time. The business became very successful and employed around 200 workers. Petrus’ sons Jan, Laurent, Ad, and Albert also joined the business. All of the sons remained childless, so what started as a family business eventually ended up in other hands.
When Francijna van der Sloot passed away 21 September 1931 in Haaren, her son Petrus was 50 years- old. He, registered as a merchant, is listed as one of two informants on her death certificate; the other informant being Lambertus de Kort, village constable. An interesting event during Fancijna and Johannes’ lifetime was that of their 50-year wedding anniversary which coincided with the 25-year wedding anniversary of their son Petrus and Johanna Vissers. This occasion is illustrated in pictures on this and the next two pages. All identified persons in the pictures are indicated with numbers. Several branches of the van der Sloot family were present. The pictures were taken in front of the home of Petrus Heesters in Driehoven in Haaren.

Because the above-mentioned boys lived such a short time, nothing is known about them except their birth and death dates. If Petrus van der Sloot and Petronella van den Brand had had another male child, his name likely would have been Johannes; a female likely would have been named Maria.
Petronella van den Brand passed away at the age of 44 on 15 November 1858.
At that time, her eldest son Antonius had been married to Petronella van der Heijden for five months. Her youngest son, Johannes, whom she gave birth to passed away on 20 August 1859.
Although much more could be researched and reported about this family, I finish the Generation 2 chapter at this point in order to meet my objective.
